European Hockey Games: Sept. 24-26
I'm having a bit of an adventurous weekend, dedicated to the pursuit of rock. To tide you over, here's a list of games that will be occuring this weekend over in Europe. Again, you're way more likely to be able to watch a KHL game online than anything else, but this thread is open to any of the action, including the Group A stage of the Continental Cup. Energija Elektrenai will not be participating in Group A as
because the airline they were going to use has folded. Here’s the updated schedule:
Friday, Sep. 24, 21:00: CH Jaca (ESP) vs. Bat Yam (ISR)
Saturday, Sep. 25, 21:00: Bat Yam (ISR) vs. Ankara University (TUR)
Sunday, Sep. 26, 18:00: Ankara University (TUR) vs. CH Jaca (ESP)

I’d like to catch a game or two this weekend but I’ve been having a hell of a time finding streams for the non-KHL leagues. I’m not sure if it’s kosher to discuss stream locations here since their legality is often questionable, but if anyone knows of a good site for that sort of thing, especially Elitserien or SM-Liiga, I’d like to hear about it. I’d be fine with a DM on Twitter (same name) if it’s not cool to mention those places here.
KHL also starts super early tomorrow, wow. Might have to go right to bed after the Oil Kings game tonight. I was going to get up early anyway to catch a Bundesliga game, but I’m not sure if I’m going to get up that early.
SM-Liiga links
Great Blog Bruce- Been especially enjoying reading what you have written on the SM-Liiga so far. Very accurate and informative- good job.
I have been following the Finnish SM-Liiga for many a year now and I can honestely say that you will find it extremely difficult to access live streams of Finnish Hockey anywhere on the net. Of course there maybe some places but I have yet to locate any.
Urho TV, Nelonen and MTV3 are the channels that show Ice Hockey in Finland with Urho being the official broadcaster and holding the live coverage rights I think on most games.
Below I will link a few sights I go on to check out the highlights from the SM-liiga:
http://www.nelonen.fi/ohjelmat/sm-liiga/etusivu?vt=video&vid=76769- Really good site, shows every goal of every game in the league as well as as some interviews and feautres.
http://www.katsomo.fi/?treeId=21001- Again similar to the Nelonen site but not as good with the highlights.
http://www.iltalehti.fi/nettitv/?26889994- This is the video player of the Finnish tabloid paper, Ilta-Lehti. Click on the tab that says SM-liiga (URHOtv)
I know these are only highlights of the matches from the league but its better than nothing I guess.
I reccomend following the Finnish leagues, out of the euro leagues I think IMO the style of play is the one that most closely resembles NA Hockey.
